Kindergarten!

Today, I zipped up your little backpack and watched as your tiny feet hurried toward something new. Kindergarten. Your first big step into the world.
How did we get here so fast?
Just yesterday, it feels like I was rocking you to sleep, tracing your soft cheeks, whispering lullabies into the quiet of the night. And now, you’re wearing new shoes and a brave face, ready to explore, learn, and grow without me by your side all day.
Your lunchbox is packed with snacks and a note that says, “You’ve got this!” But if I’m honest, maybe it’s me who needed the note more than you.
You were ready.
Ready to meet new friends, ready to hold a pencil and write your name, ready to share, to listen, to play, to dream big dreams at tiny desks. You walked through those school doors full of curiosity. I stood there for a second longer, holding back tears, holding back the urge to run after you and scoop you back into my arms.
Because kindergarten isn’t just a milestone for you—it’s one for me too.
It’s the beginning of a beautiful season of letting go. Of trusting that the roots we’ve planted at home are strong enough. That you’ll bloom right where you’re planted, even when I’m not there to watch every petal unfold.
And oh, how proud I am. Proud of your courage, your smile, your sweet heart. Proud that you’re stepping into the world with kindness and wonder.
So here’s to this new chapter.
To the little hand I still get to hold after school. To the stories you’ll bring home, the songs you’ll sing, the scraped knees and the big ideas.
And to the mama heart that will always feel a little tug… but also so much joy.
Welcome to kindergarten, my sweet one. Let the adventure begin.
